3.4.23-3.5.23

There was nothing eventful to note this weekend. I haven’t been trying to wake up earlier on the weekends, and I’m only sharing if something notable happens.

3.6.23

Another good start to waking up earlier this week. I got up at 8 am after going to bed at 12:30 am last night. This was a little later than I wanted to be in bed, but I didn’t feel tired today, and I had a very good day.

3.7.23

Whoops. I didn’t get up until 10 am. Which makes sense, because I didn’t go to bed until 1 am. I’m not going to get upset about it. It is what it is. Progress isn’t always linear.

3.8.23

I got up a little after my alarm started going off. When I checked the time, it was around 8:15 am, and I got up shortly after. That is right on track with the time I want to get up. I spent about 15 minutes crocheting as a celebration for getting up early.

Celebrating your success might sound silly to some people. But I think it makes sense. There is so much happening inside our subconscious that we don’t even realize affects our behavior. As BJ Fogg, Ph.D., the author of Tiny Habits: The Small Changes That Change Everything, explains, “You change best by feeling good, not by feeling bad.”

3.9.23

Today was an off day. I didn’t get up until 10:30 am. I knew that was going to happen since I had another late night. So, I’m making my peace with it.

3.10.23

I woke up around 9 am, so I could drive to LA to go to my friend’s engagement party and to visit my grandparents.

3.11.23

I know I haven’t been waking up early on the weekends, but today (Saturday) I woke up at 7 am because the engagement party started at 9 am.

3.12.23

I have nothing planned for today but hanging out with my grandparents, so I got to catch up on sleep. I didn’t get up until 2 pm. Sometimes I feel bad staying in bed that late, but I know I needed to recharge.

How To Wake Up Earlier Takeaways

My biggest takeaways from this week are that progress is not always linear and feeling good is more conducive to making positive changes than feeling bad. It is okay if I don’t meet my goals every single day. Off days are just opportunities to learn and improve.
