If you are anything like me and are a fanatic of all things productivity and organization, you will probably love Notion, which is an all-in-one notetaking app. This productivity app offers seemingly endless features that you can combine and use to organize your life.

I discovered Notion when I was on the hunt for tools to help me stay organized and productive. Notion is where I now store notes on anything and everything. 

What is Notion?

Notion is an all-in-one productivity and note-taking app. You can use Notion to keep track of to-do lists, project management, databases, and anything else you can imagine taking notes on.

This is a great tool for staying organized and keeping track of important reminders.

You can use Notion as an individual or use it with a team. Notion provides a way to keep your organization system simple by allowing you to house everything within one app, instead of having multiple productivity apps.

And the beauty of using Notion to organize your life is that you can mold your Notion pages into whatever form works best for you. We all work differently and have different needs when it comes to creating effective systems. Notion honors the fact that different people’s minds function best with different tools.

There are so many different ways that you can design your Notion workspace. You can choose from many pre-made templates, or you can create your own pages using drag-and-drop blocks. These blocks are the content that makes up your page. You can combine these features in any way that works for you:

Because of its many features, users describe Notion as a combination of various other organizational tools, including “Google Docs, Evernote, Trello, and Todoist” (Keepproductive.com).

People also refer to Notion as being a “second brain.” (Notesbythalia) I completely understand this idea, because Notion truly does feel like a second brain. You can organize your life by creating Notion pages for all of the different things that you might need to keep track of, helping you stay on top of tasks, boost your productivity, and remember important details. I also find that discovering new templates and creating and updating Notion pages is fun and motivates me to get more done. I especially feel like the to-do list function, which creates a box that you can check off when you complete a task, adds a little dopamine hit that helps with motivation.

Another thing that I love about Notion is how visually appealing it is. Anyone who feels motivated by things that are aesthetically pleasing will love this about Notion. You can organize all of your thoughts in a neat way while adding details like images and callouts to create beautiful pages. I find taking notes in this way to be very calming. If your brain is anything like mine, you might feel the same way.

How I Organize My Life In Notion

These are the pages I have set up that help me stay organized. I’m sharing this to provide some inspiration on Notion pages you might want to create to help you get organized in work, school, and/or life. All of these pages came either from templates within the Notion app or templates I found online.

Weekly Planner

A to-do list where I make note of tasks for each day.

I also keep a running list of items I want to complete in my personal life and a separate list of items I want to complete for work. Then, I am able to easily drag and drop these tasks to the day I want to complete them, helping make sure I remember to get them done.

Morning Routine

Habit tracker for my morning routine.

Evening Routine

Habit tracker for my evening routine.

Personal Hub

This is where I house lists and notes for various aspects of my life, such as crochet projects I want to complete, recipe ideas, random things I want to remember, online yoga classes I want to try, content ideas, and more.

Notion offers many free and paid templates. You can also find free and paid templates available online. Pinterest and YouTube are good methods for finding these templates. 

You can also integrate Notion with other apps, including Slack, Asana, Github, Google Drive, Trello, Dropbox, Zoom, and more.

The beauty of Notion is that is it customizable, so you can set it up exactly the way that helps you function best. You can get creative with it and start from scratch if that is something you enjoy. But you don’t have to have any knowledge of coding or anything like that at all. The pre-made templates take care of everything for you, while still allowing you to make any changes and/or additions you like. Personally, I have next to no experience working with software or tech, and I find Notion very easy to use.

There are also a lot of YouTube videos that teach you how to set up your workspace, and different ways to customize Notion. All of these resources make this a very easy-to-use tool. Please don’t be scared if Notion looks intimidating at first. Using Notion to organize your life can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be.
