The 5 Best YouTube Channels For Your At-Home Yoga Practice

Are you interested in practicing yoga, but feel intimidated by the thought of attending a yoga class? Or maybe you already practice yoga but are looking for new resources and types of yoga classes. I started doing yoga in high school, and I’ve remained consistent with it for the past 7 years. One of the factors that helps keep me stay so consistent is that I practice yoga at home through YouTube videos.

I love yoga because it is a joyful form of movement that helps me feel my best physically and mentally. The fact that I enjoy it so much is also part of what has allowed me to maintain a consistent practice for many years.

Benefits of practicing yoga:

Reduces stress

Calms your mind

Improves balance, strength, and flexibility

Helps you relax and sleep better

Helps relieve pain

There are so many yoga classes on YouTube, and I am grateful to all the creators who put in the time and effort to offer these online classes. When you stop to think about it, it really is amazing that we can do a yoga class anywhere, anytime, at the click of a button!

While it is incredible that we have these resources, if you are brand new to yoga, you might not know where to start. That is why I wanted to create this guide to help anyone who is interested in practicing yoga, but wants some guidelines on where to start.

If you already practice yoga, this post can help you discover some new teachers that you might enjoy.

At-home yoga is a convenient and affordable way to practice yoga. While there are many benefits to practicing yoga in general, there are also so many benefits to practicing yoga at home, as opposed to in a yoga class at a traditional yoga studio.

Benefits Of Practicing Yoga At Home (Instead Of In A Studio)

At-Home Yoga Is A Budget-Friendly Form Of Exercise

One of the highlights of the at-home yoga practice is that it is a low-cost way to stay active. Instead of paying to do yoga in a studio, you can do it through YouTube videos that are completely free! I want to be clear that I’m not knocking yoga studios at all. There are also benefits to practicing in a studio, and if that is something you enjoy, it is worth the investment.  But I think it is worth pointing out that at-home yoga is a great option for someone who wants to watch their budget.

At-Home Yoga Is A Space-Efficient Form Of Exercise

Yoga is a great at-home workout since it requires very little space or equipment. All you really need is a mat and somewhere to put it. Even if you don’t have a yoga mat, any soft surface, like a carpet or even a towel might work okay (just be careful if your floor is slippery). Some people choose to use props, like blankets, blocks, and bolsters, but those are not necessary at all. The fact that yoga is so space-efficient and doesn’t require special equipment means pretty much anyone can practice yoga at home. If you feel like your space is too cramped, you can even practice yoga outside (weather permitting).

At-Home Yoga Fits In With Your Schedule

One of my favorite parts about online yoga is that I can easily fit my yoga classes into my schedule since I can choose to do them whenever I want. This makes online yoga a great option for anyone who has a busy schedule that might make it difficult to get to a studio at a certain time. Now you can do yoga at any time. And if something unexpected comes up in your day, you can just decide to practice later or on a different day.

You Can Practice Yoga Anywhere

As I mentioned, I have managed to keep up with my yoga practice for many years, which I largely attribute to the fact that I practice yoga on my own through YouTube videos.

I managed to keep up my yoga practice even when I moved away to college. I was able to fit these practices into breaks in my school schedule. And, since I didn’t need much space, I was able to practice even in my small dorm room (I just had to find time when my roommates weren’t there because there wasn’t much floor space). All that to say that the beauty of yoga is that you can practice almost anywhere, as long as you can get a little creative with your space.

So if you are either ready to start an at-home yoga practice, or you already practice yoga and you are looking for new channels to try, you’ve come to the right place. One of my main goals for this blog is to inspire people and offer advice about lifestyle and wellness topics that I’m passionate about, which is why I am excited to create this guide going over some of my favorite YouTube channels for at-home yoga!

These are some of my favorite YouTube channels for at-home yoga.

Yoga With Adriene

Yoga With Adriene is a crowd-favorite online yoga teacher. This channel is how I started practicing yoga. Her videos are very beginner-friendly. Her positive and friendly attitude creates a welcoming environment for yogis with any level of experience. I would recommend that anyone who is new to yoga starts with Yoga With Adriene.

Yoga With Kassandra

Yoga With Kassandra has beginner videos, as well as some intermediate and advanced classes. I enjoy her flows a lot, and I like that there is a good mix of videos to choose from.

Cat Meffan

Cat Meffan’s flows are more on the intermediate/advanced side. I started doing her flows after I had been practicing for several years and wanted something more challenging. I really like her Vinyasa Flow and Power Yoga classes. It seems like that style of yoga is what she is well-known for. If you have been practicing yoga for a while and feel ready to take your practice to the next level, I definitely recommend checking out this channel. She does also have some beginner videos and “all levels” yoga flows.

Jessica Richburg

Jessica Richburg is a new discovery for me. And I am so happy I found this channel! I love her flows! They are the perfect level of challenge for me. The videos I’ve done from this channel are also more geared towards an intermediate to advanced practice, but she does have beginner classes and slower-paced classes as well.

Jessamyn Stanley

Jessamyn Stanley is a body-positive yoga teacher. I’ve only done one of her videos, so I’m not too familiar with her channel, but I wanted to include it because I love that she is creating a size-inclusive space to practice yoga. This channel was recommended to me by someone I know, and I wanted to share it because I appreciate the work she is doing to make yoga more accessible.

I am very excited to share these at-home yoga resources with you because yoga is an important part of my life and a key component of my mental and physical health and wellness. Let me know in a comment or on social media if you try out any of these channels and what you think of them! And I would be interested to hear if you prefer doing yoga at home or in a studio.

And make sure you subscribe to get more inspirational and educational content and resources to help you become the best version of yourself!
