Last Sunday marked October 1st, which means Spooky Season is here!
I created a list of fun activities to do this October. Plan to do these activities with your friends, family, significant other, or on your own (because we love a solo adventure) for maximum spooky autumn vibes.

Spooky Season Activities
Oktoberfest
It just makes sense to make attending an Oktoberfest event part of this list of things to do in October. Even if you don’t like beer, you can still have fun going with a group. I just went to my first Oktoberfest event and got to have a good time with friends and see our favorite local band. Check if any local breweries in your area are putting on events. This is a fun way to get out and see more of your community.

Look up local events
In addition to Oktoberfest, see if there are any other Halloween events in your area. This is a fun way to celebrate while also doing something new and maybe seeing parts of town you haven’t seen before.

Go to a Pumpkin Patch
It wouldn’t be October without a trip to the pumpkin patch! Gather a group for a day of fall fun and go pick out pumpkins. You might decide to carve them, or you can just buy a few for decoration (which is what I plan on doing).
Have a Cozy Craft Night
A cozy craft night just sounds like a perfect fall activity. Spend a day making Halloween crafts. This is a fun activity, plus you can make some affordable home decor! Pinterest and YouTube are good sources to find craft inspiration and instructions.
Have a Game Night
A game night is another cozy activity. You can make your game night fit the season by playing a spooky game, like Letters from Whitechapel, a board game based on Jack the Ripper.

Have a Movie Night
A Halloween movie night is another staple spooky season activity. There are so many good Halloween movies you can watch to keep the Spooky Season mood going.

Make Halloween Drinks
Seasonal drinks are always a fun way to get into a festive mood. Mix up some Halloween-themed cocktails, or mocktails. You can make this part of your craft night, game night, or movie night, for extra seasonal vibes.

Plan a Fun Halloween Costume
I’ve learned from Halloween fanatics around me that it is never too early to start planning your Halloween costume. Look online for inspiration. Pinterest is great for this as well. Make sure you have the supplies you need ahead, so you are ready to go in time for your Halloween celebration(s).
Eat Halloween Candy
You are never too old for Halloween candy. I get so nostalgic eating my favorite childhood candies. It’s wild to think about how much emotion we can associate with sensory experiences, like taste and smell.
Read a Halloween Book or Short Story
Just like Halloween movies, a spooky book or short story can put you in the Halloween mood (especially if you can find a Halloween-themed book). Even if they aren’t specifically about Halloween, mystery novels go well with this month’s theme.
Keep the Cozy Vibes Going as Much as Possible
We already know how much I love keeping YouTube ambiance videos on in the background. There are some really good Halloween-themed background videos to keep you in the Halloween spirit all season long.
Visit a haunted house
Visiting a haunted house is a staple Halloween activity. Look online to see if there are any near you.
Watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show Live
Attending a live showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show is also a great Spooky Season activity since the movie is randomly dark and creepy (which always catches me off guard). If you have never seen or heard of The Rocky Horror Picture Show live performances, this is where people act out the movie while the movie plays in the background. Oh yeah, and there is audience participation as well, but don’t let that scare you. This event is a lot of fun!
I hope this post helps you prepare to have a fun (and spooky) Halloween season full of fun activities. I tried to offer a range of lowkey events and events that require more planning, so you can make your schedule as chill or as busy as you feel comfortable with.
I also hope you love these cozy fall inspiration blog posts as much as I love writing them! Make sure to check out the other cozy fall posts to help you make the most of the season.
