The sweet smell of pumpkin spice is in the air. Back-to-school ads are everywhere we turn. This can only mean one thing.
Fall. It’s here.

My mind made the switch to fall sometime in early August (but of course, retailers said it was even sooner). Like many of us, I love fall and get excited for the season every year.
Fall is a mindset. Especially for those of us living where the temperature stays at about 70-80 degrees until late November. I intend to make the most out of this season by incorporating as many fall details into my lifestyle as possible. I invite you to do the same. Here are some tips for how you can make the most of the fall season!

How to Romanticize the Fall Season
How to Prepare Your Mind for Fall
Step one is to prepare for fall is preparing your mind for a new season.
Reflect + Journal
Reflect on the past season. What went well? What would you like to shift? What are you looking forward to this fall? What are your goals for the new season? Use this reflection time as an opportunity to envision what you want your life to look like.
Meditate
Meditation is a great way to clear your mind and prepare yourself for a new season of life. You can even do guided meditations specifically centered around the fall season.

Assess your wardrobe
As I mentioned, I live somewhere where fall weather doesn’t really exist. This step is more important for people who live in more extreme weather. If you put your fall clothes away, bring them out and switch them with your summer clothes.
Plan Meals You Want to Make This Fall
I’ve been getting more into cooking, and I want to make some fun recipes this fall. But if I don’t make a plan, I just end up making the same thing. If you’re anything like me, planning ahead helps keep you from falling into a rut. Brainstorm some fun recipes you’d like to make.
I keep a list of recipe ideas and inspiration in Notion. Notion is such a fun and helpful organization app. Using Notion makes meeting your goals more fun (in my humble opinion). You can sign up for Notion here: https://affiliate.notion.so/u46lto0227fl

Eat Seasonally
Think about incorporating seasonal autumn fruits and vegetables into your diet.
Stock Up on Fall Goodies
There’s nothing like a trip to Trader Joe’s to pick out the fun seasonal items to really make it feel like fall.

Solidify Your Morning and Evening Routine
Personal development lovers know that a fresh start (new month, new year, new season) is a great time to hit refresh on your habits. You can use the start of fall to introduce healthy habits into your morning and evening routines.

How to Prepare Your Home for Fall
Refresh your Spring Cleaning – Deep clean.
Most of us associate deep cleaning with spring and the infamous Spring Cleaning. Full transparency, I did not do my spring cleaning this year. I’m exposing myself. But you can do a deep clean any season (and any time you want to refresh your space). I know I want a clean and organized space going into this new season. I also know the best way to achieve that is to make a plan of everything I want to do to clean and organize. Then, break this plan down into the smallest tasks possible. Finally, tackle these tasks bit by bit.
Again, I’m planning my cleaning in Notion. Using Notion for planning makes me more likely to get important tasks done.
How to Set the Fall Mood
As I stated, fall is a mindset. I want my home to scream fall. That is how much I love Cozy Season.

Candles
Everyone knows candles are one of the best ways to set the fall mood. Luckily, I already have a few with nice fall scents.

Create a Cozy Hangout Spot
My goal is to create a little area where I can just chill and enjoy the cozy vibes. I’m not 100% sure what this is going to look like in my actual space. But it will obviously have soft blankets and candles nearby. Join me in brainstorming how you can create a cozy space for yourself to recharge this fall.
Decorate for Fall
Incorporate fall home decor anywhere you can. You don’t have to go out and spend a ton of money. You can make this as simple or as intricate as you like. Decorating for fall is actually a great opportunity for some DIY crafts. I have some cute little pumpkin watercolors that I made a few years ago. And this year, I want to crochet some little pumpkins.

Ambiance (Background Music, Coffee Shop Videos)
These YouTube videos have been one of my favorite things lately. I love putting on a coffee shop or bookstore video with background music. It creates such a comforting environment. Fireplace videos are also really nice.
Drink Tea
I want to become a tea drinker. A warm cup of tea sounds so soothing and relaxing. Making a cup of tea just isn’t something I naturally think of doing. But it is such a simple act of self-care that I plan on incorporating into my fall lifestyle.

Set Goals/Make a list
One of the most fun aspects of fall is doing all of the fun fall activities. Think apple picking, pumpkin patches, fall festivals, etc.
Get excited by making a bucket list of everything you’re excited to do this fall.
Schedule time with your friends because fall fun is better in groups.

Cozy Hobbies
I’m so excited to spend time doing cozy hobbies this fall. ’m so excited to spend time doing cozy hobbies this fall. I’m planning on spending time in the cozy space I created with the tips above doing cozy activities, such as:
- crocheting,
- reading,
- watching classic movies,
- crafting, and
- puzzling.

Update your TBR
TBR stands for To Be Read. Certain books align with certain seasons. To me, fall is a time for classics. But pick out whatever sounds good to you!
Save money
This step isn’t necessary, but it’s something I wanted to include. I’m working to spend a little less where I can. This way, I feel more comfortable spending money on fun fall activities and treats. This isn’t any crazy, intense budget. I’m just being intentional about prioritizing what I spend money on.
Plan your holiday gifts ahead of time
I don’t want this holiday season to be a repeat of the last two years. I planned to make homemade gifts for my friends and family. Then, I ended up stressed because I put it off until the last minute. I’m planning this out and getting started ahead of time. This way, I have holiday gifts ready and can feel relaxed once the holiday season rolls around.
I hope you enjoyed this post and got some inspiration for how you can live your best life this fall.
