I love fall. Despite the fact that my bestie says it isn’t time yet, fall is a state of mind. And my mind says fall is here.
As I explained in this post on How To Prepare For Fall, I am dedicated to making the most of the fall season. This means embodying and romanticizing fall in every possible way. I’m writing out a Fall Bucket List as a guide to help me plan and accomplish all the fun fall activities. I’m sharing this fall bucket list to help others do the same.
Fall Bucket List Inspiration
Paint your nails a fall color
I just did this the same day I started writing this post. They are already chipped now (about a week later), so time for a fresh fall color!
Decorate for fall
I’m excited about some DIY crochet fall decor!

Enjoy cozy craft nights
I want to spend a lot of time crocheting. But I’m also thinking of mixing it up with some watercolors and coloring books. Not only do crafts make great homemade gifts, but creative hobbies are great for calming our minds and making us happier overall.

Spend more time reading
I’ve been working on regaining my love of reading. Cozy season is the perfect time to re-fall in love with reading. Let me set the scene: light some fall candles, surroun yourself with cozy blankets, put on some autumn jazz, and open a good book. Oh, and make a cup of tea!
Watch classics and feel-good movies
Feel-good movies and shows fit right in with the cozy fall vibes (why people associate Gilmore Girls with fall). Throwing on your favorite comfort movies/shows in the background is a great way to create a soothing (serotonin-filled) atmosphere.
Go apple-picking
I’ve been apple-picking twice now. It is a fun fall activity to do with a group of friends. Plus you get to take home yummy fresh apples. And if you are a skilled baker (like one of my friends), you can bake with them. Or you can just eat them (which is what I do).

Go to the pumpkin patch
A trip to the pumpkin patch is another fun group activity. Gather a group of friends, dress up in your favorite autumnal attire, and pick up some pumpkins to use for decor, cooking, baking, or anything you can imagine!
Plan/host Friendsgiving
I attended a Friendsgiving last year, and it was so much fun. I’m considering stepping up this year and planning/hosting Friendsgiving myself. That will be a good challenge for me since I’m not used to hosting. It’s a skill I would like to learn. My thought is to make it a potluck to eliminate cooking stress.
Try a homemade soup recipe
I’ve been wanting to make homemade soup, ever since I’m excited to finally use the Dutch Oven I got as a White Elephant Christmas gift last year.

Drink a fall-inspired coffee
Drinking a fall-inspired coffee is a staple activity to christen the season. I love the Trader Joe’s Autumn Maple Coffee. I still haven’t been to Trader Joe’s this season, so I’m hoping they brought it back this year (I have complicated thoughts about their seasonal items). But I would also like to go out and get a fall-themed drink at a coffee shop at least once this year.

Light a fall candle
Fall candles are another fall staple. Especially when you live in a climate where fall does not exist. The only way to get the autumnal experience is to make your home smell like cinnamon and pumpkin spice and ignore the fact that it is 80 degrees outside!
Go on hikes
Once the weather starts cooling down, I want to start going on hikes with friends. If you live in an area with nice enough weather, try to enjoy some time outside.
Complete a fall photo challenge
While writing this blog post, I got inspired to start a fall photo challenge. None of the ones I saw on Pinterest felt quite right, so I made my own! You can sign up for the challenge below! Make sure to also follow and message me on Instagram (linked below), so I know you are participating. There are no specific dates/deadlines, just a list of fall items to post a photo of this season. If you are a fellow content creator, this challenge will give you some seasonal content inspiration. Even if you are not a content creator and just a fellow autumn enthusiast, this list will give you inspiration to complete these autumnal activities.
Have a Halloween movie night
Last year, my roommate and I decided to watch movies as a little pre-Halloween celebration. We included some old scary movies. I’m not a scary movie fan, but this was a lot of fun, and I plan on having another Halloween movie night this year.

Watch the Charlie Brown specials
Watching It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is a yearly tradition for me. Sadly, I missed The Great Pumpkin last year, which is even more reason to prioritize watching it this year.
Read Truman Capote’s The Thanksgiving Visitor
Reading this short story on Thanksgiving is another yearly tradition that I missed last year (I couldn’t find my copy). Luckily, I found it, so I’m ready to go this year.
Create fall vibes
Take every opportunity to add fall aspects to your daily lifestyle. Here are some YouTube videos you can throw on in the background to keep the fall vibes going in your home.
I hope you enjoyed this post and it gave you some inspiration for fun fall activities to try out. Writing this post got me even more excited for the season, which is kind of the point. It is good to give ourselves activities to look forward to. Thinking about and planning fun activities is one way we can bring more joy into our lives.
